USGS CRADA
Deep Analytics LLC recently executed a CRADA with the USGS to help develop tools for real-time, non-contact measurement of streamflow using embedded hardware suitable for a drone or bank-mounted camera. The USGS has been measuring water flow rates in rivers across the Nation for decades and has recently developed a post processing toolbox that takes a drone video as input and uses a particle image velocimetry (PIV) algorithm to estimate flow velocities. The USGS will now work with Deep Analytics to take the next step toward the ultimate goal of measuring streamflow in real time, which will help researchers working in remote areas and provide timely updates during extreme weather events.
