Senior Software Engineer
Deep Analytics LLC (DA) is a Montpelier Vermont based company specializing in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to problems sets utilizing disconnected and resource constrained devices. DA is a customer research and development organization that works with the US Government Department of Defense, Homeland Security, Interior, and commercial R&D problems. As a small company with a broad focus and diverse output, our engineers all have varied skillsets to address the different priorities, skillsets, technologies, and collaboration needs of each project. Projects range in length from a few months to a few years, and our engineers are responsible for meeting the evolving needs and challenges of each project from conception to completion.
To help meet our rising project workload we’re seeking a multidisciplinary software engineer who above all, expresses interest in learning new technologies, applying their skills in new environments, and excels at architecting software solutions in a rapid prototyping environment.
The applicant is expected to make their own decisions regarding which software languages and development environments best suit a project. However, the machine learning team and embedded team will be using Python and Linux almost exclusively. The applicant should thus be capable in Python and Linux so that they can efficiently apply AI to devices, systems, and software.
Ideally, a successful candidate will be able to do the following:
1. Develop code in Python, C, C++ and be able to pick up other languages as needed
2. Have some mobile device programming experience (Android is our most targeted platform)
3. Write efficient code that works
4. Write software that interfaces with hardware (sensors and networks)
5. Deploy code on embedded platforms
6. Document software using an interface control document
7. Work in Linux and Windows environments
8. Upgrade DA’s existing app software as needed
9. Work collaboratively with a small team on fast paced projects
The nature of our small business requires everyone on the team to wear lots of different hats. Our team works together on site to more practically and efficiently address the varying needs of each project. Successful hires will be able to perform solid technical work, have a passion for learning, and have an interest or experience developing technical content for proposals. Candidates will have significant freedom to implement the goals of each R&D project they work on. Candidates must be self-starting problem solvers, and will be expected to design, implement, and test software with limited guidance under deadlines.
Deep Analytics offers competitive pay ($80,000, - $120,000 based on years of experience), high quality health and dental insurance (VT Platinum), 4% 401k matching if employee posts 5%, $500/year education credit, upon completion of work relevant course, three weeks paid vacation the first year, and four weeks the second year.
Interested applicants should submit a resume and a cover letter summarizing projects completed by the applicant that are relevant to this job posting. Due to the nature of DA’s projects, U.S. citizenship is required. The position is not remote. Interested applicants need to be able to work on site in Montpelier, Vermont.
